Community Vigil- in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.”- Margaret Wheatley
In collaboration with PFLAG SRV, Rewire Community hosted a Community Vigil to commemorate National Domestic Violence Awareness Month....a small, powerful and peaceful gathering to honor the many stories and journeys around us, with spoken word from our community to reaffirm our commitment to creating violence free spaces for all. Every voice that stood in solidarity today to condemn violence, hit hard! And we thank each who joined, who couldn’t join, who spoke, who chose to listen…each has the courage to change the narrative for something we care about. We closed the vigil on a note of hope of creating a safe space for all voices, if they so choose to speak. To #breakthesilence and remove the stigma associated with DV.

San Ramon Culture in the Community
Rewire Community took our dance of empowerment to the San Ramon Culture In The Community event...our culture has always been our voice, our individual power, and our impact when we come together as one. Adults and youth allies came together to present movements with love, joy and companionship.

This is Me
‘This Is Me’, our 8-week summer dance and journaling wrapped up with a small (but mighty) gathering with family and friends.
Just like our weeks together, this was a morning of laughter, formations, confusions, connections, food and community. Not to forget…a lot of reflections, music and dance (including a fun and loud ‘freeze dance questions-round’ that our families agreed to join for) . Huge thank you to the dance leads, the youths who joined us, to our journaling guides, to every dancer who showed up week after week…we know it has not been easy many days. Yet, there you were, dancing, sharing, designing your t-shirts.
The journey of coming together and creating something new, is ongoing. The possibilities unlimited. Our hope continues to be that through this, each of us finds something for ourselves, that we then give forward to others in our worlds.
Our summers were full. Our stomachs were full. Our hearts are full.

"Seema Rekha" - Boundaries
With deep gratitude, we closed out the 8-week skill-building workshop, "Seema Rekha- boundaries" this week. Over the weeks, we learnt how integral boundaries are to healthy relationships as we understood its role in creating a sense of identity, while honoring our own needs, goals, values and feelings also.
Thanks to all the women who joined in, creating a non-judgemental space to explore, share and connect, bringing so much compassion towards the self while practicing what we learnt.
And thank you, Sangita Biswas, for once again reminding us of our relationship with ourselves. The workshops have helped us raise conversations and collectively learn where we struggle, why we struggle and the tools to gain clarity on the next steps to build healthy boundaries.
AND, we just want to say- what a journey it has been from the starting of these sessions-- from 'Bhaav- emotions,' to 'Swayam- the self,' to finally 'Seema Rekha- boundaries.' Thoughts, learning, realizations, emotions, all slowly weaving together over the weeks, building our skills and finding the next step for ourselves. It has been a unique experience that we hope to take forward!

Rewire community closes out two days of tabling at the San Ramon Art & Wind Festival today….and with a full heart, we want to send a huuuge thanks out to all!!
To every single volunteer who stood hour after hour with us with a smile, humor and a do-all attitude; the friends and family that kept showing up with food and canopies and sustenance ; to all who stopped by to listen, learn, get involved and give us a boost; to the city of San Ramon for bringing so many organizations and artists together; aaaand to those rock bands that kept our rhythm going !
We hope to see you all soon and stay connected. For those waves of change

"Swayam - The Self"
With deep gratitude, we close out the in-person skill building workshop “Swayam- the self”.
We came together to talk about building a healthy relationship with our inner selves. To step away from self criticism and neglect, and into self care. To not take our-self for granted, extend the same kindness to the self as we do to others. These are our shared experiences.
To remember that compassion is empathy in action.
Thanks to Sangita Biswas for creating such spaces for conversations.
We now look forward to the third part of our workshop series, “Seema Rekha- Boundaries”.
